A 4-minute quiz by Sukie

What's your friendship style?

There's no single right way to be a friend. Some people host, some people listen quietly, some people drag everyone hiking. Frequently asked questions

How long does the friendship style quiz take?+
About 3–4 minutes. There are 8 multiple-choice questions, and you get your result immediately on the same page — no email signup, no waiting.
Is this quiz based on real research?+
The seven archetypes are informed by research on adult friendship patterns (Dunbar's friendship circle sizes, Hall's hours-to-friendship work, Holt-Lunstad on loneliness, attachment-style and communal-orientation research). This isn't a peer-reviewed personality assessment like the Big Five or MBTI — it's a structured way of describing different friendship styles people consistently show. Read each archetype's research notes for the studies it draws from.
Can my result change over time?+
Yes. Most people lead with one or two archetypes, but the way you show up in friendship can shift across life stages — after a move, after a major loss, during parenting years, in retirement. Retake it once a year if you're curious.
What if I scored between two archetypes?+
That's normal and common. The result page shows your full breakdown so you can see your top two. Most adults are a blend — for example, a Connector-Sage or a Confidant-Anchor. Read both of your top archetype pages for a fuller picture.
Do I have to pick the 'best' archetype?+
No — none of the archetypes is better than the others. Each has unique strengths and a corresponding blind spot. The point of the quiz isn't to grade you. It's to show you the shape of your friendship style so you can build on what's strong and gently work on what's harder.
Will I get spam if I take this?+
No. This quiz is fully on-page, no email signup, no list, no follow-up emails. We don't currently run any newsletter at all. (If that changes one day, it'll be clearly optional.)
